BCD Experiences MAN’s First 100% Electric Truck

We recently had the opportunity to take part in a ride-along with one of the first fully electric MAN trucks to arrive in the UK – a milestone moment for sustainable transport.

Experiencing the vehicle firsthand gave our team valuable insight into its real-world performance, design, and capabilities. From its striking exterior to a well-designed, driver-focused interior, the unit impressed throughout. On the road, it delivered a smooth, quiet, and confident drive – easily comparable to a traditional diesel truck.

More than just a test drive, this experience reinforced our belief in the long-term role of electric vehicles within the logistics sector. As the industry continues to evolve, EVs are no longer a distant concept but a practical and exciting step forward.

North West’s HGV Refuelling Network Boosted!

Members of the BCD Logistics team were pleased to visit the newly opened Certas Energy bunker in Warrington (2025). Thanks to Mike Heaton and the rest of the Certas team for inviting us to be a part of the unveiling. This is a fantastic facility that strengthens the refuelling infrastructure across the M62 corridor, where many of our operations take place between Manchester and Liverpool.

This site will play a valuable role in supporting our fleet’s efficiency and sustainability efforts. Crucially, the new bunker also supplies HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) – a 100% biodegradable, renewable fuel that helps us continue our commitment to reducing our environmental impact on the road. It’s encouraging to see companies investing in infrastructure that supports the haulage industry’s transition to cleaner, more sustainable fuels.

BCD Explores Innovation in Eindhoven

In October 2025, BCD embarked on an exciting venture to the DAF Trucks manufacturing facility in Eindhoven – a key player in the development of next-generation electric vehicle technology.

What impressed me most during the visit was the exceptional build quality of DAF’s electric range and the clear confidence their team has in their product. We were also fortunate to experience a hands-on test drive of DAF’s electric trucks, which proved to be both informative and inspiring. The professionalism of the presentation and the real-world examples of companies already implementing this technology demonstrated the tangible progress being made toward a more sustainable future in logistics.

BCD Logistics Expands Its HVO Fleet to Reduce Carbon Emissions Across the UK

BCD Logistics is proud to announce the expansion of its fleet powered by Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) – a major step forward in our ongoing commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainable transport solutions.

After more than a year of successfully operating a truck running exclusively on HVO fuel from our Manchester depot, we are now extending this initiative to include our Liverpool and Birmingham branches. Each of these depots will now operate a dedicated HVO-powered truck, with plans to roll out additional vehicles in the near future.

HVO, supplied by our trusted partner Certas Energy, is a renewable, sustainable alternative to conventional diesel. It is produced from waste vegetable oils and animal fats, delivering up to 90% reductions in CO₂ emissions without compromising performance or reliability. This makes HVO a vital part of our strategy to make logistics cleaner and more efficient.

This initiative marks another milestone in BCD Logistics’ broader sustainability journey. By incorporating HVO across multiple depots, we are taking tangible steps to lower our environmental impact, support our customers’ green supply chain goals, and lead by example within the UK logistics sector.
