Alternative Fuels
In this area, we are working with vehicle and equipment manufacturers on their plans for battery and hydrogen-powered solutions – with the goal in mind to remove the use of fossil fuels, which in turn would significantly reduce CO2 emissions.
In the short term, we are utilising Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), which is reported to save up to 90% of CO2 in its manufacturing process.

Retread Tyres
High quality retread tyres are a gamechanger for sustainability in the logistics industry.
Retread tyres allow the tyre tread to be replaced separately from the casing when viable. Use of retread tyres prevents substantial waste caused by scrapping a whole tyre due to defects, such as worn/low tread, and lessens the demand for raw materials to produce more new tyres and casings.

What we save
In an environmental report for 2024, its calculated that, by fitting Vaculug retreads across the year, BCD Logistics has helped save:
- Oil – 9,452 litres
- Rubber – 4,170 kg
- CO2 – 8,340 kg
- Steel – 2,780 kg
The BCD Logistics executive team is responsible for this policy and its implementation. We are dedicated to providing the relevant resource, reviewing this policy on a two-yearly basis and communicating plans within the organisation, in addition to external interested parties.
